Life’s curve balls come at us in infinite measures and are emotionless to our personal constraints. My name is Seth Luker. As a disclaimer, I am not a medical doctor; I am not a clinical nutritionist. I am a 2-time cancer warrior and my experience is life experience and health and wellness is not just something that I practice, it is who I am. Simply put, I want to live so I am forced to do something about it... Through trial and error, extensive research and peer consultation I have come to the realization with the exception for the blessed minority of those with great immunity, if we are to have good health, we must work for it. Most people don't even acknowledge that they have an immune system until it is weakened to the point of sickness and / or disease. Our immune system is EVERYTHING. It determines whether you live or die, it is our own personal "homeland security". We truly are what we eat. To be healthy we have to want to be healthy. It all starts within us and we must be honest with ourselves. Practicing good health is simple, not easy, but it is simple. The hardest part about choosing health is finally making the choice to be healthy, holding ourselves accountable for the fuel that we put into our engines. I understand that perfectly because if it weren’t for cancer striking twice, I am afraid to say that I would not have changed. That’s the power that addictions hold over us for our favorite meals and nasty habits. For ten years I chewed tobacco. Copenhagen Snuff was my poison of choice. The habit had such a grasp on me that I was bold enough to say that it would take cancer for me to quit... Wow. Really? I grew up in a rural community in Texas where everyone’s choice of food started with the words “chicken fried” and ended with “and gravy”. By the time I was fifteen I weighed in at around 260 lbs. By 22, I was over 300 lbs. In college at the University of North Texas I would eat Hamburger helper for most meals... I would throw in an occasional Tuna Helper when I wanted to eat healthy............ :) At 27 I was off living the dream and lifestyle of a rock and roll tour manager. At times I did not feel great, rundown, but I attributed it to the drinking, partying and eating like shit. While on tour break I visited a couple specialists about my health issues. After some tests they gave me the devastating news that I had Stage 3 colon cancer. I underwent emergency surgery and chemo. I managed to stay on the Rock & Roll speedway working while flying back and forth for treatments. After 2 years of clean scans I thought, I am done with this disease... until the age of 30 when the cancer returned in my liver as a Stage 4 disease... Holy shit... Talk about a bomb being dropped on your very existence... I quickly realized that a drastic change must happen or I will die... When talking with my doctors the look of optimism from before had disappeared. This was not good. Promptly, my mother and I to begin an intensive quest for knowledge and information for regaining health and optimal function through alternative methods rather depend solely on modern medicine. I underwent surgery and chemo for a second time. By the grace of god and a great nutrition plan I am still here today more fit and healthy than ever before in my life. I am pushing close to 33 yrs and welcome every year that comes after...I love helping others to attain their true potential in life; I believe that it helps me towards attaining mine. I invite you to join me in my journey towards optimal health and function. I have learned and gathered so much incredible knowledge and information that I just want to share what I have learned with anyone who has an interest in bettering themselves and those they love. Over the coming weeks I will discuss my opinions and post new and interesting stories about general health and exercise as well as great information on some of the most nutritious and delicious foods on the planet!!!! Rockin’ wellness to you, Seth
