Is Kelp the new Kale? If you took a time machine back 15 years and tried to serve someone kale they would look at you with disgust and confusion. That is the trend of food, as we learn and grow as a society we try and incorporate new foods into our diets. You may think of kelp as a slimy and semi-gross green thing in the ocean, but it has a ton of health benefits and is starting to become popular among the health food community. We at Rockin Wellness not only try to keep up with health trends, we are usually the ones at the forefront setting these trends! That was one of the reasons we made sure our new Energy Greens product has Kelp in it, while most others skipped this new and awesome Superfood. Kelp is high in antioxidants, Vitamin C and minerals such as manganese and zinc. These help lower oxidative stress and can improve heart health. Kelp also absorbs a ton of minerals from sea water and sea soil in which it grows. Since it grows in the sea it has a lot of nutrients that land vegetables do not have. Kelp is also high in omega 3 fatty acids and contains the highest natural concentration of calcium in any natural food - 10 times more than milk! We really think Kelp is a great way to add a different type of vegetable to your diet, which helps your body with different nutrients and minerals that it doesn’t normally get. It is a difficult vegetable to eat, but we made it nice and easy by incorporating it into our delicious energy greens formula.
