We all remember the (Schoolhouse Rock) PSA Cartoons on TV from the 80s geared toward teaching children about the basics of health. Sadly, I believe that we are no further along in the education of today’s youth on good eating habits and choices on health in 2010 then we were in the 1980s. As a matter of fact, we have most likely fallen back a little. Always eat with a purpose in mind. Be conscious of what we put into our mouth. Know the ingredients and the nutritional value of the food we are eating. The great naturopathic Dr. Sharyn Wynters said in a recent article, “What I’ve learned is… the face that you have when you’re fifteen and twenty years old is the face you were born with. The face that you have after fifty is the face you deserve.” Those words really strike a chord with me. How we eat and treat ourselves right now is in direct correlation with how we will look and feel as the road of life moves forward. Go on, give the future a look… According to our diet and lifestyle right now, are we making choices that the version of us 20 years from now would be proud of? It’s definitely something to think about… The human body is made up of more than 100 trillion cells. Every 9 months these cells regenerate and replace each other. Out with the old contaminated cells and in with nice fresh healthy cells ready to grow new skin on our face, enamel on our teeth, healthy hair, fingernails, lungs, liver, hearts, everything… All substances that we deposit into our body directly affect us at a cellular level. All nutrients that are pulled from the foods we eat are broken down into amino acids, glucose, fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals. It is then delivered to the cells to use for fuel to power our bodies. Think of your stomach and digestive system as a car engine. It can range anywhere from a Ferrari to a Pinto. I don’t know about you, but I like to think of mine as a Ferrari, and it requires the highest quality fuel and upmost care and maintenance if it is to perform like the champion that it is. So if you choose to feed these new cells nothing but junk, then the new cells will be contaminated just like the old cells and the performance will never be what it coulda, shoulda, woulda meant to be… Rockin’ Wellness to you, Seth
