Breast Cancer Awareness: Which Healthy Habits Actually Matter?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings plenty of pink ribbons, but it also brings a flood of questionable wellness claims. So what habits are actually supported by evidence?

Can breast cancer be completely prevented?

No. There is no guaranteed way to prevent breast cancer, and many risk factors such as age, genetics and family history are outside our control.

The American Cancer Society identifies lifestyle factors that may help lower risk, including regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding or limiting alcohol. An overall nutritious eating pattern is good for health, but no single fruit, vitamin, powder or superfood has been proven to prevent breast cancer.

Where does plant-based nutrition fit?

Plant-forward eating makes it easier to include fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds and other nutrient-dense foods. That is the lane Rockin’ Wellness belongs in.

Our Chocolate Cacao combines real raw organic cacao with plant-based ingredients in a simple shake for days when eating well needs to be easy. It is nutrition, not a cancer treatment.

What is the most important October reminder?

Do not let wellness marketing distract from screening. Talk with your healthcare provider about your individual breast cancer risk and the mammogram schedule that is right for you. Pink is nice. Evidence is better.
